Medicinal herbalist practice
Rhiannon started her practice as a Medical Herbalist in Banbury in 1989.
This combines massage, relaxation and stress management techniques to promote good health. Rhiannon has worked extensively with adults with learning disabilities and their carers.
Plant background
Rhiannon graduated from Manchester University with a Biology degree. She then gained a post-graduate Diploma from Harper Adams Agricultural College. Her passionate interest in the healing capacity of plants grew and developed whilst working in crop development in the agricultural industry.
Certificate in Herbal Medicine
Rhiannon studied with the School of Herbal Medicine/ Phytotherapy for 4 years and joined the National Institute of Medical Herbalists (NIMH) in 1989.
Fellowship of NIMH
In 2007 Rhiannon was awarded a Fellowship for her contribution to the Ethnomedica/Remembered Remedies Kew based archiving project. She chaired the management committee of the joint initiative, for 6 years; encouraging the collection and archiving of memories of domestic plant use. www.rbgkew.org.uk/ethnomedica
Teaching and research
Rhiannon has a City & Guilds Further Education Teaching Certificate. She teaches Community Education Courses in Herbal Medicine locally for the Workers Education Association. These are suitable for a diverse range of age, ability and cultural groups.
Rhiannon was Tutor / Examiner for The School of Herbal Medicine / Phytotherapy for 9 years. She has acted as Student Mentor for the NIMH. Rhiannon has also acted as Guest lecturer in Western Medicine (Anatomy and Physiology) at H.E level.
Massage qualification
Rhiannon gained her massage qualification in 1993, through the British Cycling Federation (now British Cycling). This enabled her to help cyclists to prepare for competition, and to recover afterwards.
Herb Walks and Workshops
Rhiannon leads informative, and entertaining Herb Walks and runs Herbal Workshops in and around Banbury.
